For this project, I had to research two cybersecurity attacks, as well as use my training to evaluate how reliable the sources are.
I learned that cybersecurity attacks happen for many different reasons, for example, in the first article the attack was to stop businesses from aiding Ukraine in the war, while in the second article the person was just after the employee data. I also learned that in order to keep safe from cybersecurity attacks you need to keep your computer up to date and be suspicious of certain emails that have links for you to click.
Sandworm: This article talks about ransomware attacks done by the Russian hacker group sandworm. It is unclear who the actual targets are, but Microsoft researchers claim that they might be targeting businesses they believe are aiding Ukraine in the war. Apparently, in the fall, they targeted transportation and related logistics industries. We can potentially protect ourselves from this kind of attack by strengthening the "edge" information technology infrastructure of targeted networks.

Bed, Bath & Beyond: This article talks about a phishing attack that targeted Bed, Bath & Beyond. The data was breached and the person who commit the act was able to access the employee hard drives and share drives. Not only did it affect the company, but it also affected the customers. You can avoid phishing attacks by being more cautious with emails, and checking everything out to make sure it's not a fake before clicking any attached links.
