The Best Workflow: PDF Print

The industry-standard way to receive Canva files is to have the client export them as a PDF Print file.

Advise your clients to follow these steps to ensure the file is print-ready:

• Export Settings: In Canva, the client should go to Share > Download and select PDF Print from the "File type" dropdown. This format is specifically designed for professional production rather than on-screen viewing.

• Crop Marks and Bleed: If the design involves full-bleed printing (backgrounds or photos that go to the edge), instruct the client to check the "Crop marks and bleed" box. This provides the necessary buffer for trimming and ensures no white slivers appear on the edges.

• Flattening: Suggest they enable "Flatten PDF" if their design includes many layered elements or transparency effects, as this can help reduce technical issues during the printing process.

• Dimensions: Emphasize that the Canva document should be built at the exact finished (trim) size. Resizing a file later can lead to issues with text reflow and image quality.
