This is my Bird Series I have finished during 2020-2022. I would like to exhibit the series at the Kalamazoo Art Hop sometime during 2023. The exhibit will include matted and framed originals, digital prints, and notecards. Perhaps some small birdhouses adorned with paint and some images from the bird drawings.
With exception of the last two birds, all the original drawings are 6" x 6" drawn on a heavy weight cold press illustration board. Each drawing is many-layered with colored pencil and solvent that gives more of a painterly look. With two exceptions, each background is the same leaf pattern with a variety of colors and sizes. The leaf patterns were inspired by the cotton fabric of a dress I made myself about twelve years ago. The use of bright colors and patterns are a lifelong passion. My color choices are based on years of study of color physics inspired by Johannes Itten.
