Built in the 1900 the Railroad depot serviced Hendricks, Minnesota for both passenger and freight shipments. In the 1967 after the Railroad, Chicago and Northwestern, ceased further operations on the line it was saved by locals and turned into what is now the first building of the Pioneer Museum opening in 1968. Housing artifacts of various cultures of early pioneers and Native people.
A Sears/Roebucks house built in 1918, the Eske House was the primary residence of Reverend Eske and his family. Housing pictures of many early residents its layout is unchanged from its construction. Bought for $2,500 and built for $1,500 it serves as a testement to the craftmanship of its time.
Also known as the Veteran's Chalet, this houses many artifacts of the veterans and people of Lincolnc County. Including the original Hendricks Legion Board of Past Members. Uniforms from the Spanish American War to the Korean War are proudly displayed. As well, a tribute to the Local Hospital, County Courthouse, and Heritage of the County.
Also known as the Trooien Agricultural Building, this houses the many agricultural artifacts that settlers used on the Southwestern Minnesota Frontier. To include the oldest plow blade that broke sod in the west. Also housed here is a tribute to the various Farm Baseball teams that entertained the locals and a hand built boat.
The oldest rural Icelandic Church in the state of Minnesota was built in 1889. The Icelandic Church stood tall east of Wilno. The Icelandic Church has a storied past, burning down in 1925, being rebuilt, and moved 15 miles from its original spot to the Pioneer Museum.
While a plethora of one-room schoolhouses dotted the landscape of Lincoln County, the District 5 Shoolhouse was moved to the Pioneer Museum to preserve the history of early education. Built in 1897 roughly one mile North of Hendricks on the northwest corner of County Highway 1 and 320th Street. The District 5 Schoolhouse would also serve as a church for the Norwegian Evangelical Free Church Congregation before its construction.
