Are group routines mandatory?
Group routines are mandatory for Performance and Pre-Company levels. We require group routines at this level so students can bond and learn to work together as a team.
While we aim for all dancers to perform in a group routine, the availability depends on the number of dancers in each pathway. Duet or trio performances can be considered group routines if necessary.
What happens if there aren't enough members in the Performance or Pre-Company pathway to have a group routine?
The dancer may perform a solo if there are insufficient dancers in a specific pathway.
Why aren't group routines mandatory for company and velocity pathway?
These programs typically attract students engaged in multiple sports who also have a passion for dance and competition. We advocate for our students to engage in and explore various activities. Therefore, we empower them to select the activities they wish to pursue and the competitions they want to participate in. Students in these pathways can select to be in invited group routines. Some invited group dances may consist of duets or trios only.
How do you select dancers for invited group routines?
Dancers select that they would like to be in an invited group dances then they are assigned to group dances based on their skill level and pathway. Some invited dances may consist of duets or trios only, while others may require solo performances if there are insufficient dancers in a specific pathway.
What is the process for assigning students to classes?
Students are placed in classes based on their skill level, age, and attentiveness. Performance and Pre-Company Teams attend Academy classes on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays, while Company and Velocity Teams have Wednesday night classes along with additional sessions on other nights.
Why are optional competitions offered for Company and Velocity?
Recognizing the busy schedules of our students, and encouraging them to engage in various activities and sports. Offering optional competitions ensures families can tailor their schedules accordingly.
Can Velocity (Travel) and Company participate in unlisted competitions and conventions?
Absolutely! Velocity and Company are welcome to participate in any competition or convention they wish to explore.
When are competition entry fees due, and how can they be paid?
Entry fees are due from July 2024 to February 2025. We will send out a Google form for you to indicate the required competitions and optional competitions/conventions you wish to attend. Once the form is submitted, we calculate the total fees and divide them into eight payments. Payments will be automatically withdrawn from your chosen payment method on file.
Why is Velocity a higher investment than Company?
Velocity is designed for students who aspire to travel and are dedicated to dance. It requires a slightly higher investment due to additional activities and dedicated instructor-student time. Participants on this team seek to be challenged and ultimately want to compete at an Intermediate-Elite level. They aim to learn from various choreographers and industry teachers; fostering growth as artists.
Who would be Company be good for?
Company is designed for students that are dedicated to dance but don't want to travel. This level is great for students that want to do dance team in high school or college. Company members dance in the recreation and intermeidate level while aspiring to be in the elite level.
