Our research focuses on three major areas:
(i) Genome editing across nuclear and mitochondrial genomes
We investigate diverse genome editing systems—including CRISPR nucleases, base editors, prime editors, and mitochondrial DNA editing tools—to enable precise genetic manipulation in both nuclear and mitochondrial genomes.
(ii) Engineering precision and performance of genome editing
We systematically evaluate and engineer genome editing systems to improve their specificity, efficiency, and safety.
(iii) Genome engineering for disease modeling and gene therapy
We develop genome engineering platforms for disease modeling and therapeutic applications, expanding the potential of genome editing in biomedical research.
By integrating molecular and cellular biology with advanced genome engineering, we aim to develop next-generation technologies for precise, efficient, and safe manipulation of genetic information, broadening their applications in biology and medicine.
