Standard Two

Effective CTE programs are structured through a sequenced progression of learning that begins with foundational skills and moves toward specialized, advanced competencies. The curriculum is non-duplicative and vertically aligned across secondary and postsecondary levels, leading to recognized postsecondary credentials such as industry certifications or degrees. The program provides multiple entry and exit points and ensures credit transfer and articulation through collaboration between educational partners, aligning closely with broader career pathway systems.

Artifact 1

At Dawes middle school in LPS, The Skilled and Technical Sciences Pathways continue up the high schools. The classes offered have units that fit within the divisions of the Pathways, those pathways are then separated at the high school level for students to learn from the Foundational Knowledge gained in the middle school Courses. This format Allows students to take one class and experience the different pathways for students to see the options available for them to take at the high school and Post secondary Level. Employable skills are introduced, and students begin to learn in this level.

Artifact 2

LPS has the Pathways available in Skilled and Techinical Sciences Laid out easily for students. Most LPS STS teachers have a Poster with this information up on their wall for students to visualize their Experience in the Pathway. The six pathways offered by LPS are Computer Aided Drafting Courses, Woods Manufacturing, Welding/ Machine Tool Manufacturing, [Robotics, Engineering, Mechanisms], Automotive Repair, and Aviation. Now not all the Pathways are offered at all Eight schools but at least four pathways are offered at every school giving students flexibility in what the choose to do and the Poster also includes the classes offered as dual credit at SCC
