Standard Three

Assessment within a quality CTE program is comprehensive, varied, and aligned with both academic and technical standards. It incorporates formative and summative approaches, including performance-based assessments that require students to demonstrate their applied skills in real-world contexts. All assessments are valid, reliable, and standardized where appropriate, and they provide meaningful data on student attainment of technical, academic, and employability outcomes. Importantly, these assessments also prepare students for industry-recognized credentialing exams.

Artifact 1

These two documents were part of a lesson plan that I put together for a Drill Press Lesson. The goal of the Test is to see if the students remember all the necessary information to stay safe while operating a Drill press. I have the answer Key attached as well so that anyone covering this lesson could test the same knowledge. I attached the documents to be able to complete the Lab so that Students could apply the knowledge after taking the Written test and the Document to review before the test.

Artifact 2

The report from my Class 206 lessons and assessments demonstrates my ability to teach effectively and evaluate student progress in a meaningful way. By focusing on both knowledge acquisition and real-world application, I’ve gained insight into the learning strategies that best support student growth. This artifact reflects my understanding of Comprehensive Assessment and Data-Driven Decision Making. For Comprehensive Assessment, I used a combination of formative and summative assessments to evaluate student learning across technical, academic, and employability skills. These assessments were designed not just to assign grades, but to track progress and measure how students applied their knowledge in practical situations. Assessment data also played a key role in informing my instruction. By analyzing student performance, I was able to identify learning gaps, adjust my teaching strategies, and make improvements to the curriculum. The infographic included with the report visually summarizes student progress and illustrates the impact of the instructional methods I used. Overall, this experience reinforced the importance of aligning assessments with learning objectives and using data to improve both teaching practices and student outcomes.
