Light-Q Creations is a small, southern Maine based company making Steampunk, Industrial, re-purposed antique lamps and other lighting fixtures as the mood (and inspiration) takes me. With a basement workbench and the proximity of many flea markets and antique stores- I have plenty of inspiration. I am also happy to work with a customer to design a unique creation around a treasured heirloom piece. No sense letting it gather dust in the attic-- let Light-Q Creations illuminate it, so you can display it on the mantle or on your side table.
About the Artist:
Quentin Stockwell is a Theatrical Lighting and Scenic Designer. He was awarded a BFA in Lighting Design from Ithaca College and then went on to study at NYU. Quentin has designed lights and scenery throughout New England, mostly in the seacoast region of southern Maine and New Hampshire. While working as an electrician for various theaters, he started re-wiring practical lighting fixtures (chandeliers, sconces, floor and table lamps) to prepare them for the productions. That started his art form of re-purposing lights, antiques, and illumination devices. Quentin’s love of history, Victoriana, industrial equipment, early electronics, tinkering and mechanical time pieces inspires him to create. Frequently using up-cycled components or reclaimed parts, his creations range from repairing interesting light fixtures to re-purposing antiques as lighting fixtures, industrial lighting, found-object sculptures, or steampunk creations.
A note about the Creations:
These lighting fixtures are individually designed out of unique items, antiques, industry standard plumbing parts from the hardware store, and newly-purchased electrical components. Many of these pieces will show their history-- dents, scratches, patina, and the worn feel of well-loved items. Extensive experience, an eye toward safety, and a healthy dose of common sense make these fixtures as safe as I can make them. Please note however, that these lighting fixtures are not UL approved. Many of the individual components may be approved for use in electrical assemblies, but these fixtures have not undergone the rigorous testing required for a UL listing. That said, I only use quality components from reputable sources. I test all of my fixtures on my work bench, in my own home, to make sure they work, and will safely work in your home as well. If, for some reason, your lamp from Light-Q Creations does not work as you expect, please let me know.
