Responsibilities:

• On-Air Talent will present news segments for the bi-weekly Lightning News broadcasts.

Requirements:

• Must be comfortable with being in-front of a camera

• Clear speech (doesn't have to be perfect, just intelligible)

• Have reliable, HD (or-better) quality camera

• Clear audio (w/o background chatter or music. Light background noise is usually fine.)

Responsibilities:

• Narrators are the voice-over talent who voice promos, news-segments and podcasts for Lightning News.

Requirements:

• Clear speech (doesn't have to be perfect, just intelligible)

• Clear audio/reliable recording environment (w/o background chatter or music. Light background noise is usually fine.)

Ideal Traits:

• Able to work on last-minute notice (in the event of breaking stories)

Responsibilities:

• Journalists/Writers draft news stories, and submit them for copyediting and selection.

Requirements:

• Solid vocabulary

• Able to gather facts quickly

Ideal Traits:

• Understands how to write in "news-speak"

• Able to understand topics quickly

• Able to work on last-minute notice (in the event of breaking stories)

Responsibilities:

• Fact-checkers and copy-editors examine each fact presented in Lightning News Articles/Scripts and ensure they maintain an accurate representation of the facts.

Requirements:

• Solid vocabulary

• Able to gather and verify facts quickly (using varied sources)

• Understands how to write in "news-speak"

• Able to understand topics quickly

• Able to work on last-minute notice (in the event of breaking stories)

Responsibilties:

• Video Editors edit the final version of Lightning News Installments, and prepare it for broadcast on the internet

Requirements:

• Able to use software capable of overlaying chroma-key graphics

• Has a computer/smart-device capable of editing in 1080p without a drop in quality.

Ideal Traits:

• Able to work on last-minute notice (in the event of breaking stories)

Responsibilities:

• Asst. Production Coordinators manage the production workflow, and ensure that all set guidelines are met during the production process. Additionally, they ensure that all Lightning News installments are copyright-friendly, and we maintain amicable relations with copyright holders.

Requirements:

• Understands leadership on an administrative level

• Able to maintain composure during stressful situations,

• Able to de-escalate issues, and

• Able to maintain consistent communication with Chief of Staff and Director of News and Information Services

• Able to work on last-minute notice (in the event of breaking stories)
