Lightning Tracker (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using Lightning Tracker.
## Information We Collect
We may collect or process the following information:
Location Data: If you allow location access, the App uses your approximate or precise location to show nearby lightning activity, storm radar, severe weather information, hotspots, and distance-based alerts.
Selected Location Data: You may search for or select a location manually. We use that selected location to display weather, lightning, radar, and alert information.
Notification Data: If you enable lightning alerts, we may store your Apple Push Notification token, selected alert location, alert radius, app version, and notification settings so we can send nearby lightning alerts.
Subscription Data: Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We may receive subscription status information, such as whether Premium is active, but we do not receive or store your payment card details.
Device and App Data: We may process technical information such as app version, device platform, app settings, and basic diagnostics needed to operate and improve the App.
Advertising Attribution: If you grant permission, the App may use Apple Search Ads attribution or similar privacy-preserving measurement to understand app install performance and improve subscription offers. We do not sell your personal information.
## How We Use Information
We use information to:
Provide live lightning, radar, hotspot, and weather map features.
Calculate distance from lightning activity to your selected location.
Send lightning alerts when activity is detected near your alert area.
Manage Premium access and restore purchases.
Improve app reliability, performance, and user experience.
Prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and maintain service security.
## Third-Party Services
Lightning Tracker may rely on third-party services to provide app functionality, including:
Apple services, including App Store, StoreKit, Apple Push Notification service, MapKit, and system location services.
Weather and radar data providers, including Weatherbit and RainViewer or similar providers.
Subscription infrastructure providers, including AppActor.
These services may process data according to their own privacy policies.
## Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers only when needed to operate the App, process subscriptions, send notifications, provide weather data, comply with legal obligations, or protect our rights and users.
## Data Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Notification registration data may be kept while alerts are enabled or until it is no longer needed. You can disable notifications or contact us to request deletion of related data.
## Your Choices
You can disable location access in iOS Settings.
You can disable notifications in iOS Settings.
You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings.
You can request deletion of applicable data by contacting us.
## Children’s Privacy
Lightning Tracker is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
## Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
## Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
