Shadows and Light: A Refugee’s Journey
Shadows and Light: A Refugee’s Journey
A story of displacement, faith, and transformation.
Shadows and Light: A Refugee’s Journey is a 20 minute documentary that traces a deeply personal path from war-torn South Sudan to refugee life in Uganda, and ultimately toward transformation through faith and filmmaking. Blending interviews, archival memory, and cinematic storytelling, the film reveals the resilience of the human spirit and the quiet strength found in suffering.
This film is not just a story I am telling—it is a life I have lived. For many years, I carried memories of displacement, loss, and survival without knowing how to give them form. Through filmmaking, I discovered a language that allows me to transform pain into meaning.
Shadows and Light is an invitation: to listen, to see beyond headlines, and to encounter the dignity of those whose stories are often reduced to statistics.
