Taban Patrick Consantino, S.J. is a South Sudanese filmmaker, writer, and Jesuit priest whose films seek to engage, illuminate, and empower—inviting reflection through emotional truth and ethical depth. A graduate of Loyola Marymount University’s MFA in Film and Television Production, he blends observational storytelling with poetic realism, shaped by formation in philosophy, theology, and social sciences, as well as lived experience across continents.
His work explores stories of displacement, dignity, and transformation. After spending nineteen years as a refugee in Uganda, he creates from within memory, giving voice to stories often unheard. His thesis film, Shadows and Light: A Refugee’s Journey, reflects this vision
My filmmaking is grounded in presence and listening. I do not seek spectacle; I seek truth. Through light, sound, and memory, I aim to create films that invite audiences into deeper compassion and shared humanity.
