The app records 1-second video clips using the rear 1× camera only.
Microphone permission is requested for Time Capsule audio messages and optional videos with sound.
Each clip is stored locally on your device until you export or delete it.
After you export your movie, the app automatically deletes the previous cycle’s daily clips from the local storage.
If you enabled iCloud sync, copies are stored in iCloud until you disable sync or delete them manually.
iCloud sync is available for all users. When enabled, your daily clips and Time Capsules are uploaded to your Apple iCloud account.
This enables viewing and playback across multiple devices signed into the same Apple ID.
Disabling sync simply stops the upload; data already uploaded remains in your iCloud unless removed manually.
Yes and No. You can view your recorded clips after pressing blue "Day" circle, if you have not enabled any of "Darkroom Modes". Currently app does not have an option to delete 'single' or 'any' clip. It wipes all 30 video clips after each successful and confirmed export + user confirmation before new cycle starts.
Exporting and starting a new cycle will delete the older cycle automatically.
Uninstalling the app will remove all local data.
To remove iCloud copies, disable sync or delete from iCloud storage manually.
Users have a 30-day cooldown between toggles of Darkroom Hardcore, which starts the moment Day 1 is recorded.
This is to prevent accidental switching and to encourage consistent usage.
Regular Darkroom Mode allows instant and unlimited toggles.
You can enable daily reminders to prompt you to record your 1-second clip.
All users can set multiple reminder times per day.
When notifications are on, the app requests permission and schedules alerts accordingly.
Local recording remains unaffected—clips are stored on your device.
Uploads to iCloud will resume once you reconnect.
iCloud outages or limitations are handled by Apple’s iCloud infrastructure, not by the app itself.
