The FAQ of Enduro Racing
Where to start?
If you are new to Enduro Racing, have run less than 50% of a previous season, or new to a different Enduro Division than one that you have previously run, you are eligable for Rookie Of The Year!
In order to qualify for Rookie Of The Year, you must be registered into the points standings, and you must complete more than 50% of the season. If both of these things are completed, you're points will be tracked throughout the season and you will be competing with fellow rookies within that division for ROY.
So You Want To Try Enduro Racing?
Your first questions are probably how do I get started? This document will provide you with everything you need to know to get ready for your first season!
Safety Equipment:
Helmet:
You are required to wear a SNELL Certified Racing Helmet, Motorcycle helmets are not permitted. The Helmet must be a SNELL SA2015 rating or newer.
Fire Suit:
You are also required to have a full fire suit (one piece or two piece fire suits are acceptable), fire shoes, gloves, and either a neck donut or HANS device.
Drivers Window Net:
If you are choosing to participate in the Truck Enduro division the window net is required. The 4/6 Cylinder Enduro and the 8 Cylinder Enduro window nets are not required but are highly recommended.
Five Point Harness:
Although it is not a requirement for enduro racing, it is strongly recommended that you put a 5 point harness in the vehicle, the harnesses do not need to be up to date, you can usually find expired sets for sale from Saturday Night Division Drivers, or you can purchase new. You can also chose to keep the stock seatbelt if you would like.
Cross Bar:
A Cross Bar is not required in the 4/6 Cylinder and 8 Cylinder Enduro divisions but it is allowed and highly recommended. If you are joining the Truck Enduro Division, the Cross Bar is mandatory.
This is to be mounted behind the driver's seat around shoulder height. This is to help brace the vehicle in the case of side impact. The Cross Bar can also serve as a mounting point for the seat and the 5 point harness.
Transponder:
If you chose to be scored during your Enduro event a Transponder is required, that can be purchased at either Mylaps.com or at Oval Speed. (See Transponder 101)
All required items can be purchased at Oval Speed, Speedway.com, Jegs.com, and potentially Riverhead Raceway Swap and Shop (Facebook group), or Facebook Marketplace.
Race Receiver:
A Race Receiver is required for each driver to wear during each racing event, it allows the drivers to have one way communication with the Race Tower and listen for important communications regarding the race. They must be programmed to Channel 461.200
Number Registration:
Each Driver is required to register their number with Riverhead Raceway each season, this can be done so by going to:
RiverheadRaceway.com, Competitors Tab, and scrolling down to Car Number Registration, this costs $52.00, and you are required to renew your number each season.
Important Items:
Upon arriving at the racetrack you should go to the Pit Window, specifically the window titled "Drivers", once you approach the window you are to give them your name, division, and vehicle number, pay the registration fee, sign in on the sign in sheet and you will be given your bracelet for the day.
Before you can hit the track for practice or a feature event, your vehicle must undergo a Tech Safety Inspection. We recommend getting this done once you sign in at the window and enter the pits. This can be completed on one of the practice days or on race day. We highly recommend completing Safety Inspection on the practice days if possible as the Tech Department can be very busy on race days.
There is a fee of $20, and you are to drive your vehicle up to the impound area in front of the bathroom trailers in the pit area, please bring all of your safety gear with you as well. A Tech official will check over your equipment and your vehicle and advise if you passed Safety Inspection or not. You will receive a sticker for the roof of your vehicle which is required to be placed on the roof, and you will not be able to enter the track without it.
Racing entry fee is $50.00 for the 2026 season.
Please note any Pit Crew members with a Nascar License pit entry fee on Saturday Nights is $45.00. Pit Crew members without a Nascar License pit entry fee is $65.00 on Saturday Nights.
Any questions regarding safety or specifics about building all race vehicles should be direct to Randy Murrary the Head Tech Official.
