The workshop “Innovation in Selective Mining: new trends and technological advances to reduce the environmental footprint of mineral extraction“ organised by the H2020 ROBOMINERS project took place on Wednesday, 08 June 2022, at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences in Brussels.
During the afternoon, a hands-on session was dedicated to demonstrate and use the equipment for selective mining developed within the framework of the ROBOMINERS project. The LIBS setup developed by the Geological Survey of Belgium was a highlight, demonstrating the collaboration between LIBS-SCReeN and ROBOMINERS. The discussion was focused on the possible applications of LIBS for mineral exploration and extraction, as well as the challenges and limitations of the method and how to overcome them.
We thank our colleagues & organisers of the Geological Survey of Belgium, European Federation of Geologists, and La Palma Research Centre for the excellent workshop and continued fruitful collaborations!
