Explanatory notes



In the Map of Italian Books of Hours, which is the central section in the website, containing short entries on the surveyed manuscripts listed in topographical order (by place of conservation and shelf-mark), the information will be expanded gradually, as the website Hours/Ore is conceived as a work in progress.
The different sections of the website display the information on the cited manuscripts and the relevant bibliography in abbreviated form.
The bibliographic entries, expressed in the form 'author and publication date', can all be found in full in the section Extensive Bibliography.
Many other abbreviations are used, which are listed below.
