I was born and raised in Austin, TX. I have been a Patton Pioneer in elementary, then went on to be a Clint Small cougar for middle school. Finally, I ended up as a little maroon puffball at Austin High School.
I only moved away for my bachelor degree in art, with a minor in English, from Texas Lutheran University. During my sophomore year, I studied abroad at Harlaxton College in England, where I met my now husband. That semester I travelled across England, and ventured into Germany, Wales, and Italy too.
After graduating from TLU I worked at Petsmart as a full-time petcare assistant. During this time I acquired 2 cats, 1 lizard, 3 snakes, and 10 fish tanks. I worked on my teacher certification and eventually landed a job as a special education teacher assistant at Bowie High School.
It was both the hardest, yet also, the most rewarding job I have ever worked. We tried to do the best we could for the students while consistently running low on staff and energy.
Then COVID hit, and I began searching for teaching jobs as we finished the year. In July of 2020 I was hired on at Manor Senior High School as an art teacher there. We were virtually into October when we move to hybrid learning. I had a great team of coworkers to support me.
I spent two more years there, gaining new skills and becoming more confident as a teacher. My artwork improved as well. I became the head of fine arts for my campus during the last year too. I planned field trips and events, mainly for the art sector, but would support my colleagues events when I could.
Now, I am currently working on my Master's of Science in Information Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, to become a school/public librarian.

My faithful viola. VIOLA GANG!
My parents instilled a lifelong love of reading in me from a very early age. I still very much enjoy young adult fantasy. This love of reading translated into a love of creative writing. I enjoy writing stories that transport people to a different world and have taken part in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) six times.
In 6th grade, I started playing viola, so that's about 17 years! I can't believe it's been that long. My rhythm was always bad, but without a teacher to make sure I use the metronome, it's gotten much worse. I still enjoy playing for fun, though.
Art has always been something I enjoyed, but I finally got to take it in high school and was hooked ever since. I'm still working on learning how to accurately draw portraits and figures, but I enjoy landscapes and still life pieces very much. Book binding is my favorite medium, but I have a lot of fun with watercolor, ink, paper mache, acrylic painting, and ceramics as well.
