MedTag: Emergency ID is a single-purpose app that displays a phone owner's emergency contact and essential medical information to a bystander, directly from the lock screen, in case the owner is unable to communicate — for example, during a medical emergency. It's built and maintained by a single independent developer, not a company. This page explains what data the app touches and why.
The app does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any information to Ellis Enterprises LLC or any third party to use it.
The names, relationships, phone numbers, date of birth, and medical details (such as conditions, allergies, and medications) you enter into MedTag are stored locally on your device only. This information is never uploaded to, or accessible from, any server operated by the developer, and the developer cannot see it. It stays on your phone unless you delete it in the app or clear the app's data.
MedTag is designed so a bystander can see your emergency information from your lock screen — without your PIN or passcode — using a Quick Settings tile you set up yourself. This is an intentional safety feature: MedTag never asks for, stores, or bypasses your device's lock-screen PIN or passcode, and it never unlocks your phone. Because this information can be seen without unlocking your device, you control what you enter — only include what you're comfortable a stranger seeing in an emergency.
If you enable direct calling, a bystander can call your emergency contact from the lock screen. MedTag places that call using Android's own call-handling system (Telecom). The phone number dialed is sent only to your phone's calling service (your carrier or whichever calling account your device is set up to use) in order to place the call — it is never sent to, or logged by, the developer.
Phone (CALL_PHONE): used only to place a call to your emergency contact when a bystander taps the call button on the lock screen. MedTag does not read your call log, contacts, or any other calls.
Network state / internet: included as part of the standard Android app framework. MedTag does not use your network connection to transmit your emergency or medical information anywhere.
MedTag does not request access to your location, camera, contacts list, photos/files, or microphone.
The app offers a single one-time purchase to unlock the full version after a free trial period. This purchase is processed entirely through Google Play Billing. MedTag never sees or stores your payment details (card numbers, billing address, etc.) — those are handled directly by Google Play under Google's own privacy policy. The app stores, only on your device, whether you've completed a purchase, so the unlock persists.
MedTag contains no advertising SDKs and no analytics or tracking SDKs. Nothing about your use of the app is collected or transmitted for advertising or analytics purposes.
The developer does not sell, rent, or share your personal or medical data with third parties. Aside from what Google Play itself requires to process a purchase (described above), no data leaves your device.
You can edit or clear your information at any time from within the app. Uninstalling MedTag removes all information stored locally by the app.
MedTag is not directed at children and is not designed to collect personal information from children.
This policy may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
