The marching band is an ensemble made up of students enrolled in our wind ensemble, symphonic band, concert band, colorguard, and advanced percussion programs.
The Wind Ensemble is the premier performing group within our band program, featuring advanced musicians who demonstrate exceptional skill and dedication. Admission is typically based on audition or instructor recommendation, and the ensemble performs a wide variety of challenging repertoire ranging from classic wind band literature to contemporary works. Members of the Wind Ensemble also contribute to the marching band and represent the program at concerts, festivals, and community events throughout the year.
The Symphonic Band is an advanced ensemble that offers students the opportunity to continue developing their musical skills through the performance of high-quality concert band literature. Designed for experienced musicians, this group focuses on refining ensemble techniques, tone production, and musical expression. Symphonic Band performs regularly at school concerts, festivals, and other events, and members also participate in the marching band during the fall season.
The Concert Band serves as a foundational ensemble within our band program, welcoming developing musicians who are continuing to build their technical skills and ensemble experience. Students in this group focus on fundamental tone production, rhythm, and musicality through a diverse selection of concert band repertoire. Concert Band performs at school concerts and community events, and its members are also part of the marching band during the fall season.
Our Jazz Program offers a dynamic, tiered experience for students of all skill levels, focusing on performance, improvisation, and a deep appreciation for America’s original art form. With three levels—Jazz 1, Jazz 2, and Jazz 3—students have the opportunity to develop their musicianship in a supportive and challenging environment.
Jazz 3 serves as the entry point for students who are new to jazz or just beginning to explore improvisation and jazz styles. This ensemble focuses on the fundamentals of jazz performance, theory, and ensemble playing.
Jazz 2 is designed for intermediate students who have some experience with jazz and are ready to expand their skills. This group dives deeper into style, articulation, and improvisational techniques while performing a wider variety of jazz repertoire.
Jazz 1 is our most advanced jazz ensemble, featuring top musicians selected by audition. This group performs challenging literature across multiple styles, with a strong emphasis on improvisation, tight ensemble playing, and performance excellence. Jazz 1 regularly participates in festivals, concerts, and competitions, representing the highest level of jazz performance in our program.
From foundational skills to professional-level performance, our jazz program cultivates creativity, collaboration, and a lifelong appreciation for jazz.
Winter Guard is a competitive indoor performance ensemble that combines dance, flag, rifle, sabre, and theatrical movement set to music. As an extension of our fall colorguard, Winter Guard allows students to further develop their performance skills in a unique, high-energy environment during the winter and spring seasons.
Performing in gymnasiums rather than on the field, the group presents choreographed shows that blend precision, expression, and athleticism. Winter Guard competes in local and regional circuits and is open to students with a passion for movement, creativity, and performance.
Whether you're a seasoned performer or new to the activity, Winter Guard offers an exciting opportunity to grow as both an individual and a team member.
Winter Percussion is a high-energy indoor ensemble that combines advanced percussion performance with theatrical visual elements. As an extension of our marching percussion program, this group performs in a gymnasium setting, blending music, movement, and storytelling into a competitive show experience.
The ensemble includes both battery (marching drums) and front ensemble (pit percussion) sections, and competes in local and regional winter percussion circuits. Winter Percussion pushes students to new levels of musical and physical performance, emphasizing precision, creativity, and teamwork.
The Winter Drum Major Team is a select group of student leaders dedicated to honing their conducting, leadership, and communication skills during the off-season. Through specialized training, rehearsals, and workshops, team members prepare to lead the band with confidence and precision throughout the marching season.
This program focuses on advanced conducting techniques, score interpretation, leadership development, and effective rehearsal management. Members also collaborate closely to build teamwork and stage presence, ensuring they are ready to inspire and guide their peers.
Open to current and aspiring drum majors, the Winter Drum Major Team provides an invaluable opportunity for growth, mentorship, and leadership excellence within the band community.
