Yuan Masuda was born in 2001 in Las Piñas City, Philippines. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of the City of Manila, where his undergraduate research focused on the biosorption of heavy metals. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Chemistry at De La Salle University under the supervision of Dr. Virgilio D. Ebajo Jr. His research interests are centered on synthetic organic chemistry, particularly the development of skeletal editing methodologies. 

In 2026, Yuan joined the Liao Group as an intern through the International Internship Pilot Program, where he seeks to further strengthen his skillset in organic synthesis while advancing the experimental component of his master’s thesis research. 

Outside the laboratory, Yuan enjoys listening to K-pop, watching K-dramas, singing, collecting fragrances, and exploring specialty coffees and teas.
