Velu Saravanan was born in Tamil Nadu, India in 1987. He graduated his bachelor’s in Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur and Master’s in CEG, Anna University, Chennai.

He received his doctoral degree in 2017 from the department of Organic Chemistry, University of Madras under the guidance of Prof. A. K. Mohanakrishnan.

Then he continued his research in the same department as research associate. During these periods he has synthesized carbazole based natural products and annulated heterocycles.

In 2020, he moved to Hsuan-Hung Liao group as a post-doctoral fellow.
