Gloria Furdada is a professor and researcher at the Universitat de Barcelona in the department of Earth and Ocean Dynamics. She is a member of Risknat Riscos Naturals which is an organization comprised of researches from the Earth Science faculty and department of Earth and Ocean Dynamics at UB. They conduct research, field work, and hazard assesment around various geological phenomenons that are associated with risk.
I chose to research Gloria Furdada because of the lack of female representation in the Earth Sciences that we spoke about in lecture this week. When I was looking on Google Scholar to find a geomorphologist to research Gloria was one of three females or at least female preseting names I saw on the list of 60 Geomorphologists. I chose Gloria over the other two females based on her work with avalanches. As a skier and someone who loves the snow I've always been interested in avalanches and the science behind them.
