WHO IS JUNIOR VARISTY?

The Junior Varsity Cheer Team is an essential part of Lakewood Cheer — leading school spirit with energy, commitment, and pride. JV athletes perform at football, soccer and basketball games, pep rallies, and community events, representing the same Tiger spirit and excellence as our Varsity squad.

JV athletes focus on team chemistry, technical precision, and performance confidence, building the strength and consistency that make the entire Lakewood Cheer program shine.

We are proud to recognize our 2026–2027 Junior Varsity Spirit Leaders—athletes who have earned the opportunity to lead by consistently demonstrating the values and expectations of our program. These leaders exemplify the Lakewood Cheer program's standards through their dedication, integrity, accountability, work ethic, and positive attitude. They lead by example, encourage their teammates, and help create the culture we strive for every day. We are excited to celebrate the impact they make both on and off the sidelines as they lead our team throughout this season.

2026 Colorado Positive Athlete Award Winner

Positive Athlete, Inc. is a national organization that seeks to promote the benefits of positivity to young athletes around the country through awards, scholarships and special opportunities. Since 2013, Positive Athlete has recognized thousands of student-athletes across the country with Positive Athlete awards, awarding over $700,000 in scholarships.

Lakewood's Junior Varsity Shweta was recognized by the Positive Athlete organization as one of the 28 “Most Positive” student-athletes in the state for the 2025–26 school year.

Positive Athlete evaluates nominees on seven core attributes summarized by the acronym O.P.E.R.A.T.E.

Q: What are the typical costs or squad uniforms to participate?

A: A detailed breakdown of costs is provided at tryouts. Program fees for Junior Varsity includes uniforms for the season. JV Uniforms will be owned by JV Squad Members.

Q: How many members are on the Junior Varsity squad?

A: We have approximately 28 members per season, per squad. Depending on interest per year, we may have more than one JV squad.
