All sports. All seasons. One family. This is Lakewood Cheer.
Tryouts take place each spring for the upcoming school year. Dates and details are announced on our website and social channels in advance — so check back often and be ready to bring your Tiger spirit!
Tryouts are open to all females and males who will be freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors during the 2025-2026 school year. Tryouts are for Varsity and JV. Yes, we are a “cut sport” which means that everyone may not make one of the squads.
Yes! We encourage incoming 9th graders to try out and bring their enthusiasm. Leadership opportunities exist for all levels.
Yes. Summer is when we bond, train, and prepare for the year ahead. All squads participate in local summer "Boot Camp" practices to learn all of the cheers, sideline dances, and work on stunting. While these practices cannot be made mandatory; however, this is when we learn the majority of our cheers and sideline dances. Squad Members who miss these practices are responsible for learning the material that they miss.
Varsity Members may attend the UCA Overnight Camp at at Colorado State University, instructed by Universal Cheerleading Association, typically in June.
Yes! Our program is committed to making Cheer accessible to everyone. We offer fundraising opportunities and payment plans to make participation accessible to all students.
Yes. We encourage multi sport participation and celebrate well rounded athletes. Many of our athletes are also involved in other school activities such as band, theater, student senate, and more. Communication is key. Coaches work with athletes to help balance schedules whenever possible while ensuring academics remain the top priority.
Note: Special thanks for all members, parents, coaches and teachers who have shared these great photos with us; special thanks to principal Joshua Kraft!
