In line with the ongoing efforts to enhance knowledge management under the Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC), the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) commenced its first learning and development activity for CY 2024. The session, titled “iShare: Photography Skills Training (Using DSLR and Mobile Phone),” took place on January 23–24, 2024, at the DILG Regional Office 10, Cagayan de Oro City. This initiative aimed to equip LGMED personnel with fundamental photography skills that could be applied in documenting government activities and improving knowledge-sharing practices within the organization.
The training was facilitated by LGOO Rezza Mae T. Docallos, who started the session with an in-depth discussion on photojournalism, emphasizing its role in storytelling and effective communication. To set the stage for hands-on learning, participants engaged in a pre-activity exercise, where they used their mobile phones to capture action photos of daily office scenarios based on the theme “DILG Daily.”
The training proceeded with an insightful discussion on photo composition techniques, camera settings, exposure adjustments, and camera modes, providing participants with essential knowledge for capturing high-quality images. To reinforce these concepts, an interactive icebreaker was conducted before transitioning into a post-activity challenge, where participants applied their learnings by capturing 3–5 action photos using DSLR cameras, aligning with the “DILG Daily” theme.
The activity concluded with closing remarks from LGOO John Mark Casino, who expressed his appreciation to LGOO Rezza Docallos for sharing her expertise. He emphasized that the iShare: Photography Skills Training would be an invaluable resource for LGMED personnel, equipping them with the skills necessary to document future activities more effectively.
Through this initiative, LGMED continues to foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation, ensuring that personnel are equipped with the necessary tools to enhance knowledge management and governance practices.
