Republic Act No.9344 is “An Act Establishing a Comprehensive Juvenile Justice and Welfare System, Creating the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council under the Department of Justice, Appropriating Funds Therefor and For Other Purposes” or otherwise known as the “Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006”. It covers the different stages involving children at risk and children in conflict with the law from prevention to rehabilitation and reintegration.
To upheld the rights of the children at-risk (CAR) and children in-conflict with the law (CICL), Republic Act (RA) 9344 or the “Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006” as amended by RA 10630 or “An Act Strengthening The Juvenile Justice System in the Philippines, Amending for the Purpose Republic Act 9344” is an affirmation of the Philippine commitment to protect and promote the welfare of the Filipino youth and children.
Pursuant to this act, the DILG is is mandated to provide the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC) with periodic status of LGUs compliance to several section of the Act which are:
1% IRA Allocation for LCPC
Appointment of Licensed LSWDO
Development and Implementation of the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program
Establishments of Bahay Pag-Asa Mandatory Registry of CICL and establishments of Bahay Pag-Asa
Database System on CAR and CIL
Monitoring Forms
DILG -JJWA Form 1 - to be accomplished by the LCPC City/ Municipal IMTF
DILG -JJWA Form 2 - to be accomplished by the LCPC Provincial IMTF
DILG -JJWA Form 3 - to be accomplished by the LCPC Regional IMTF
Submission
Every 15th May of the ensuing year
