LGUs Implementing Anti-Smoking / Anti-Vaping Ordinances and Other Related Issuances
Pursuant to Republic Act 9211 or the Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, municipal mayors, building officials, and members of Philippine National Police (PNP) are authorized to take necessary steps to effectively implement the provisions of the Act and its rules pertaining to the smoking ban, access restrictions, point-of-sale establishments and cinema and outdoor advertising.
Since 2004, the Department has been in active in supporting national laws and other relative issuances aiming to regulate the use of tobacco products, novel tobacco products, and vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products, by encouraging all local government units (LGUs) to the same.
MC 2017 - 147 Enjoins cities and municipalities to undertake measures for the efficient and effective implementation of EO 26 and at the same time, enjoin the provinces to ensure compliance by the cities and municipalities of such undertaking.
