This is in connection with the issue regarding the establishment of a pool resort within the Chocolate Hills in Bohol, which has caused public concern regarding the protection of World Heritage Sites in the country. Chocolate Hills is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a protected area under Proclamation No. 1037, series of 1997 and Republic Act No. 7586 or the National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) Act of 1992 Such issues and violations goes against the policy of the goverment to preserve and protect the environment, including the provisions of the Local Government Code anent the mandate of LGUs to enhance the right of its constituents to a balanced ecology.
Relative thereto, all DIG Regional Directors shall monitor and submit detailed narrative reports on the following :
1. Inventory and list of protected areas within the Region's area of jurisdiction; and
2. Recorded, reported, and/or monitored intrusions, encroachments, and violations in each protected area.
