The DPW responded, saying they would look into this more closely, they states that they would be painted probably in May, because that is typically the type of month you would do that in. In some places they are putting stakes, on the hydrants so they are more easily visible.

A tweet was recently sent out a tweet to the town and DPW.
Dear Lexington Department of Public Works,
I am writing on behalf of the neighborhood to request a change in the color of the fire hydrants within our community. Currently, the fire hydrants are painted in a black and white color scheme. While we appreciate the efforts of the department to ensure that the fire hydrants are easily visible and recognizable, we believe that a new color scheme would be more appropriate.
As you may know, the color black and white is a common color scheme used for fire hydrants across the United States. However, it has been brought to our attention that this color scheme may not be the safest or most visible option for our community. With the increasing amount of traffic and development in our area, it is becoming increasingly difficult for drivers and pedestrians to spot the fire hydrants in the event of an emergency.
We believe that a new color scheme for the fire hydrants would not only make them more visible and recognizable, but it would also serve as a point of pride for our community. We suggest a color scheme that is bright and eye-catching, such as red or yellow, to ensure that the fire hydrants are easily seen and identified by all.
We understand that changing the color of the fire hydrants may require additional resources and effort on the part of the department. However, we believe that this change would ultimately benefit our community and make it a safer place to live.

We should repaint every single fire hydrant a different brighter color instead of black.

A lot of fire hydrants are black and white, however the color is unsafe and not accesable. We could paint them red or scrape the top layer off the hydrants. If you look at some hydrants, the black paint is scraping off and bright red is underneath it. It is a better color, we should change to solid red as well as put up the flexable flag stakes to make sure they are noticable.

We could change the color of the hydrants blue and yellow therefore they are brighter and can bee seen. This is very important because in the northeast, it is usually dark, windy and cold and can be really hard to see a fire hydrant if it is black, therefore the best solution is to change the color. This will allow for plows to safely see the fire hydrants so they are not damaged by big snow piles, ice, crashes, exc.
