SMART Goal 1: Teach pharmacy students how to critically assess a patient’s medication regimen and treatment plan and to make appropriate therapy recommendations.

Weaknesses: No previous experience teaching assessment and critical thinking skills
Measurement of Progress: Pre and post survey on students’ confidence in chart review, assessment, and medication therapy recommendations
SMART Goal 2: Improve my small group discussion skills through leading five topic discussions over the residency year.
Strengths: Eagerness to share my pharmacy knowledge, relatability to pharmacy students, past experience leading topic discussions
Weaknesses: Answering questions I didn’t prepare for, confidence in my own clinical knowledge
Measurement of Progress: Verbal and written feedback from students and preceptors
SMART Goal 3: Learn how to provide quality feedback by providing constructive criticism to students through a variety of student-led teaching opportunities.
Strengths: Eagerness to provide positive feedback, communication skills
Weaknesses: Fear of providing negative feedback, lack of experience giving feedback

SMART Goal 4: Provide ten to fifteen valuable patient counseling examples for pharmacy students to enhance their counseling skills over the residency year.
Strengths: Friendly and encouraging personality, good communication skills, desire to educate patients
Weaknesses: Little experience counseling patients

SMART Goal 5: Improve my lecture skills by presenting two one-hour long presentations for medical and pharmacy residents over the residency year.
Strengths: Good presentation skills, comfortable in front of a large group
Weaknesses: Ability to answer random questions related to lecture material, lecturing experience
