Happy Sunday Lancer Families,
As we approach the end of our school year, it is a very exciting time for some, while a time of high anxiety for others. We still need students to arrive to each class promptly and we need them to report to classes that they are scheduled to attend. Please remind your student to finish the school year well! As we continue to enjoy the month of June, there is much to celebrate. I want to acknowledge Lancer students and/or Lancer families who are celebrating LGBTQIA+ Month, Juneteenth, and the last day of the school year. Enjoy!

Mental Wellness Summer Supports
The FCPS Office of Intervention and Prevention Services will offer virtual Mental Wellness Consultations from June 26 to August 4. Any FCPS parent or secondary student can schedule a 45-minute consultation with a school psychologist or school social worker by phone or videoconference. Consultations will be offered in two ways:
Directly to parents of students in any grade level. This consultation provides an opportunity for parents to receive guidance on how to support their child’s social, emotional, and academic success. Information about community resources will also be provided.
Directly to students in middle or high school. This consultation provides an opportunity for middle and high school students to receive guidance and support for concerns related to anxiety, mood, behavior, peer or family interactions, or school transitions and changes. Strategies and tools can also be provided to address academic challenges such as organization and time management.
All parents and secondary students are encouraged to take advantage of this service. Consultations can be requested online or by calling 703-503-2520 and leaving a message.
For the parents of our Seniors – Class of 2023
I find it an honor to have served as your students’ principal since January of 2020. I was able to enjoy my own child’s 2023 high school graduation at EagleBank Arena last Sunday evening. Here are a few extra tips:
Our graduation will begin promptly at 2:00pm tomorrow and I want to urge you to arrive early.
Doors will open at 1:00pm. You have to factor traffic into your travel time.
Please be certain to discuss which exit you will meet your graduate at the conclusion of the ceremony: North, South, East, or West.
EagleBank Arena does sell a few refreshments. Last week, I purchased some popcorn and a cold drink and my daughter enjoyed some Dipping Dots. They take cash and cards as payment options.
Please limit the conversations with friends and family members around you to increase the ability for others to hear the speeches and the names of our graduates.
Enjoy the ceremony! Congratulations!!!!
For the parents of students currently in grades 9, 10, and 11
Your graduation celebration will be here before you know it! Lewis HS is looking to enhance programming around college and career readiness. We are asking that you complete this optional needs assessment about your child's college and career needs. Your feedback will let us know what types of programs might be helpful for you and your child.
