While the coronavirus (COVID-19) has been spreading around the world and dominating news headlines, thoughts and attention, the need to take climate action has remained as urgent as ever.
On behalf of the Erasmus+ project “Young Students as Critical Science Detectives”, Pasvalys Levens school’s community engaged in Earth Day Weekly actions, an entire month of activities was focused on the environmental and health related issues that the world faces.
•Every week was devoted to a certain Earth-preserving and educational activity. We wanted to learn how all the stuff we need and use comes from the Earth. We also explored some small changes we can make that have huge, positive impacts on our planet.
•Week 1 Wise consumers : Research on Ways of Life, Importance of vaccination, Food we eat, clothes we wear, homes we live in, energy we need
•Week 2 The nature and society: Farming, transport, medicine
•Week 3 Deeper into the world of Nature: Water, Biodiversity, weather/climate, forests, oceans
•Week 4 The Nature and man-made changes: Plastics, climate change, biodiversity loss, deforestation
•Students, parents and teachers were encouraged to self-educate on the topics of research mentioned above.
•To check their understanding and obtained or possessed knowledge of the topic, all participants were suggested to do an online Climate change Quiz and share the results via Facebook or on the School’s website

Why are there so many Internet articles on how dangerous vaccines are?
• There is a large community of anti-vaxers. This is called vaccine opposition.
• Are there any other reasons people refuse vaccination?
• Some people don’t believe vaccines can prevent these diseases because they say they are useless or create side effects, etc.
Well, we definitely needed more research and we did it .
After doing some research we found out that:
Vaccination is a safe and effective way to prevent disease and save lives – now more than ever. Today there are vaccines available to protect against at least 20 diseases, such as diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, influenza and measles. Together, these vaccines save the lives of up to 3 million people every year
We wanted to pass this information to the broader community by making informative educational posters about vaccination.
Dissemination: online version of the educational posters on vaccination

In collaboration with community partner "Pasvalys Health Care and Vaccination Centre" we created a funny video film teaching the importance of vaccination.
•Covid has not stopped us - we still could find the ways how to enjoy our school and project activities
•There were a lot of things we could do online- we did not need to worry about the activities when we have technologies.
•During COVID lock down, we were engaged in online activities and we even learned from the new situation and experience.
•It was hard to work online, when we didn't see each other live, but I think it was great that we could meet and chat with other people attending these projects.
•I think that in these hard times the projects really help. They are very educating and the people are very nice. I'm very happy to be a part of these projects.
