Background
Dr. Le holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Vietnam National University's Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, received in 2012. Subsequently, he pursued a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace Engineering from Konkuk University in the Republic of Korea, earning his degrees in 2015 and 2020, respectively.
Throughout his academic career, he has actively participated in various projects related to designing and developing metallic thermal protection systems for reusable space vehicles in partnership with the Korea Agency for Defense Development. He served as a research assistant at Konkuk University's Department of Advanced Technology Fusion, where he conducted several experiments, including thermal, mechanical, and vibration tests, as well as static and dynamic numerical simulations, to examine the design of materials and structures for hot structural applications.
In 2018, he received additional training at the Opto-Mechanics and Physical Reliability Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Binghamton University, where he conducted thermo-mechanical tests on electronic packaging to estimate the plastic work of solder balls following exposure to thermal cycles. In 2020, he was appointed as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Aerospace Information Engineering at Konkuk University, where he was later promoted to Research Professor. In 2023, he took on a role as a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Baylor University, TX.
Currently, his research focuses on enhancing the understanding and ability to design and manufacture materials and systems for aerospace and space engineering applications. His research interests include thermal protection systems, ceramic matrix composites, mechanics of materials at extreme conditions, bio-inspired structures, composite sandwich structures, composite damage, and finite element analysis. He employs a multi-disciplinary approach, utilizing experimental testing, computational modeling, and analysis, to predict and understand the behavior of these systems and materials under various conditions.
Research Interests: Thermal protection system; Ceramic matrix composites; Mechanics of materials at extreme conditions; Bio-inspired structures; Composite sandwich structures; Composite damage; Structural dynamics; Structural health monitoring; Finite element analysis.
