On the morning of September 16, 2025, at the National Assembly House, the Politburo and the Party Secretariat convened a national conference to disseminate and implement four key resolutions on international integration, energy security, education and training, and public healthcare. The event was attended by General Secretary Tô Lâm, President Lương Cường, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn, along with Party and State leaders, former leaders, and more than 1.2 million Party members connected nationwide. At the exhibition booth showcasing the scientific and technological capacity and educational highlights of VNU, VNU’s President Hoàng Minh Sơn introduced to General Secretary Tô Lâm the university’s cutting-edge R&D products. He emphasized VNU’s strengths in combining fundamental and applied research, as well as its ability to transfer and commercialize technology in service of national priority tasks.
On August 28–31, 2025, the National Exhibition Center hosted the opening of the exhibition “80 Years of Independence – Freedom – Happiness” marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2). The event was attended by Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn, former Party and State leaders, members of the Politburo, the Party Central Committee, government ministries, diplomatic missions, international organizations, and enterprises. At the VNU-CRES booth, Politburo member and Hanoi Party Secretary Bùi Thị Minh Hoài, together with Central Committee member, Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Trần Sỹ Thanh, visited the exhibition of flagship S&T products.
On July 4, 2025, Dr. Le Van Giang held a working session with Prof. M. Fujishige from Shinshu University, Japan, to discuss a collaborative research project between Dr. Giang’s team and Prof. Endo’s group at Shinshu University. The project focuses on the development of a novel RO based point of use water purification technology that operates without pumps or electricity, enabling 24/7 continuous filtration. Key advantages include over 50% reduction in wastewater, a compact design weighing only 1.5 kg, and a clean water output of 60 liters per hour, suitable for household drinking water needs. Notably, the system is expected to cost nearly half the price of conventional RO machines on the market. A major breakthrough of the technology is its ability to effectively remove PFAS compounds and residual chlorine species, addressing pressing public health concerns. The two research groups are currently working toward scaling up production and commercializing the product in the near future.
On June 18, 2025, We sincerely thank the VNU-Center for Enabling Startups and Knowledge Transfer, for nominating our research group's environmental treatment technology to Bac Ninh Province. We were fortunate to be selected as the first project to present before Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Chairman of the Bac Ninh People's Committee, along with leaders of various departments, agencies, and dozens of enterprises and companies in the province. Ultimately, the project was honored to be selected for an investment cooperation agreement with the People's Committee of Bac Ninh Province, representing outstanding technological and start-up projects in 2025.
On June 16, 2025, We sincerely thank the representatives of the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ngai Province for their visit and working session with the Central Institute for Natural Resources and Environmental Studies. During the visit, the delegation was introduced to practical models, including the CDI drinking water treatment project in Phu Tho Province and the swine wastewater treatment model in Son Tay Town. The delegation highly appreciated these scientific and technological applications and commissioned several key projects to the research team. This demonstrates the trust of local authorities in VNU’s research capacity and affirms its pioneering role in innovation and technology transfer to local communities.

On January 13, 2025, Dr. Le Van Giang presented the results of the project "Application of Capacitance Deionization Technology for Drinking Water Treatment at Several Schools in Phu Tho Province." The results received high praise from the expert council and the reviewers. From March 29-30, 2024, the leadership team of the VNU-CRES, including Prof. Dr. Luu The Anh, Director General, and Prof. Dr. Bui Ngoc Quy, Deputy Director, visited livestock models for pigs and dairy cows, as well as organic fertilizer production models using agricultural by-products. In the afternoon, the delegation held meetings with local businesses and authorities in Dien Chau Town, Nghe An province, discussing the development of organic-oriented pork farming and sharing new technologies for circular and zero-waste livestock waste management.
On March 26, 2024, the Institute of Natural Resources and Environment officially received the VIMCERTS 327 certification. With Certificate No. 17/GCN-BTNMT issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Institute is now qualified to provide environmental monitoring services. The scope of monitoring includes:
Surface water: 8 parameters measured on-site and 31 parameters analyzed in the laboratory.
Groundwater: 8 parameters measured on-site and 34 parameters analyzed in the laboratory.
Seawater: 6 parameters measured on-site and 8 parameters analyzed in the laboratory.
Soil samples: 13 parameters analyzed in the laboratory.

On February 21, 2024, to celebrate the Lunar New Year, the VNU-CRES organized a spring outing, visiting Uncle Ho's Temple, Thuong Temple, and Mau Temple located within Ba Vi National Park.

On January 19, 2024, as part of the conference to implement the 2024 task plan, the strong research group on Resource Recovery and Sustainable Energy Regeneration was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
