A Note on Diversity

Every effort was made to ensure a variety of ethnicities and races were included in the book list. Please see below for specific information on each title.

• The Amazing Discoveries of 100 Brilliant Scientists - this non-fiction book includes scientists from all over the world, including Europe (Western and Eastern), the United States, Africa, Asia (including India), and New Zealand.
  

• The Data Set: March of the mini beasts - though not specified, the illustrations in this book show characters of different races, including Caucasian and African-American, as well as possibly Hispanic.
  

• Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library - though not specified, the characters in this first book in the series appear to include characters of Caucasian and Hispanic nationalities. Additional books in the series - which will also be mentioned during discussions - include other nationalities, as well, including a girl of Middle Eastern descent.
  

• Flora & Ulysses - this book features Caucasian characters - and, of course, a squirrel
  

• The Haunted Library - this book features Caucasian characters, as well as ghosts, who may or may not have races
  

• Inside Out & Back Again - this book focuses on a Vietnamese family and includes experiences involving racism
  

• The Last Kids on Earth - though not specified, the illustrations in this book show characters of different races, including Caucasian and African-American
  

• Last Stop on Market Street - this book focuses on an African-American boy and his grandmother, though characters of other races appear in the illustrations, as well
  

• Planting Stories - this biography focuses on a Puerto Rican woman
  

• Secret Coders - though not specified, the illustrations in this book show characters of different races, including Caucasian and African-American
