Aims of the project

The aim is an increased awareness and knowledge in our pupils about climate change. The main goal is to encourage our pupils in taking initiatives to reduce the effects of climate change, to integrate recycling into their lives and to provide information on energy efficiency and the effects of energy production on nature.

There are five schools in our project:

Bulgaria: Parvo osnovno uchilishte "Sveti Sveti Kiril i Metodii" (primary school, 51 teachers, 580 pupils)

Italy: Istituto comprensivo Falcone Borsellino (middle school, 120 teachers, 1200 pupils)

Portugal: Escola Secundária José Falcão (secondary school, 109 teachers, 1041 pupils))

Romania: Liceul Teoretic Miron Costin Pascani (educational institution, 75 teachers, 1500 pupils)

Turkey: Şehit Adil Erdoğan Ortaokulu (middle school, 140 teachers, 2300 pupils)

There are five planned international mobilities in project. All mobilities are planned as short-term exchanges of groups of pupils.

WORK PROCESS

We want to see that the participants gain the knowledge necessary to fight pollution and unnecessary energy consumption. With the slogan

"Plastic is everywhere, yet has no place in nature", we plan a campaign to collect plastic bottles and recycle them, which is only one among many activities of the project, but is the main objective.

Some of the other planned activities are:

- Making a short film with the slogan "Plastic is everywhere, yet has no place in nature"- Having a climate strike- Getting electronic disposal including batteries under control- Creating an awareness board- Visiting recycling facilities,

Visiting energy production facilities- Doing a project logo competition- Doing a cartoon competition about climate change and recycling- Doing banner and t-shirt competitions,- Making inquiries about changes in sea levels and average temperature, letting pupils meet ONLINE, Preparing leaflets about environmental protection and recycling and,distributing these leaflets to families.

EXPECTED RESULTS

The results we want to achieve at the end of the project are:

- that the disposable products such as to-go cups are replaced with more environment-friendly solutions,

- that residual waste in the school does not include recyclable materials and that batteries and similar materials are separated from these wastes.

Pupils, their parents and their acquaintances are expected to be more aware of these problems and contribute to recycling as a result of our project. What we want to achieve for the schools is that the pupils gain the appropriate skills for the challenge of climate change. We also want to integrate such activities to the official curriculum.
