Impact Report Feature #1
Project Title: Let’s Change Confidence: The Movement
Format: Youth-led publication
“Representation directly shapes confidence, and confidence shapes leadership and long-term success.”
— Isabella Wen
About the Project:
Let’s Change Confidence: The Movement is a print and digital youth-led publication that features creative works from youth across Canada, including personal stories, poetry, and reflections. It explores the connection between self-esteem, body image, and leadership, inspired by the findings of The Power Within Recommendation Report.
Framed like a magazine, the publication invites readers to listen, reflect, and recognize self-worth as a foundation for youth success.
Why It Matters
When youth see themselves reflected in stories, their sense of belonging and confidence strengthens. By amplifying underrepresented youth voices, Let’s Change Confidence builds cross-cultural understanding and contributes to global conversations about equity, representation, and identity. The edition will include perspectives from youth worldwide, creating space for international exchange and solidarity across borders.
Looking Ahead
The Core Youth Team currently advising on campaign materials, Erin Sweeney, Emil Hung, Jacqueline Bai, Kai Bundy, Soumya Das, and Aakaansh Kapoor, are looking forward to working with Isabella to advocate for increased self-esteem education in schools and distribute the publication in third spaces such as community centres, libraries, retailers, and therapist offices.
“As a youth who struggled with mental health, I found that changing rooms in clothing stores became the place where some youth often feel self-conscious. Having this publication there could help make a difference."
— Emil Hung
The Let’s Change Confidence team is excited to address The Power Within Recommendation Report and work towards systemic change.
Alongside our Forbes 30U30 partner, NoSo, Plan Canada Fellow Isabella Wen joined Matt Galloway on on CBC's The Current to advocate to embed media literacy in the K-12 curriculum, a policy recommendation in The Power Within report.
Too many youth are losing confidence before they even get the chance to lead.
That’s why we are disrupting the cycle.
