Parkview Clinical Food Pantry Internship
This semester I have been an intern at Parkview Health working in the Community Well-Being Department. I have gotten to attend greenhouse learning classes, supervisor classes, asssist with their food boxes, and much more! The following are my learning objectives:
Learn about different industries in health administration through networking and working with individuals in positions of interest
Learn/practive written and oral communication skills through email and interactions with professionals at internship site
Identify and develop a network of industry professionals
Support with leading classes and providing information in classes and other events hosted by internship
Through this internship, I have been able to meet many individuls and learn about different career options. I have gotten to put my communication and leadership skills to use by supporting in learning classes and supervisor classes. The supervisor classes also gave me confidence in how much I know about being a leader while also helping to strengthen my skills and add on to them. I have been able to interact with the community and learn how to communicate with people from all walks of life.
The biggest academic connection is the skills and knowledge I have learned about being a leader. I have gotten to witness these taking place as well as showcase them through my own skills. The knowledge I have learned in my professionalism class was very well used throughout my internship. It helped me stay professional throughout and make sure that my image stayed positive regardless of my own frustrations because I was able to navigate them using the skills from my professionalism class.
