Les Petits Explorateurs in-home Preschool will be held at my house in Orem (by UVU approx 800 W 600 S).
As with all immersion schools in Utah, learning will take place both in English and French. In addition to my years of experience in the classroom, I have expanded my educator tool kit to include Busy Toddler's Playing Preschool curriculum, Montessori child-led toys and activities, and Lovevery's game-based Reading Skills Sets & books.
I've adapted these tools—which cover reading, math, science and art—to transform our classes into a rich, immersive learning environment where children play, sing, explore, and grow in a bilingual setting. Your child will learn French naturally through predictive routines (a key for language learners), engaging songs & stories, sensory play, and social language—not flashcards or worksheets.
All activities are carefully designed to adequately nurture the emotional, intellectual and physical growth of your child. Experts agree that pushing formal academic learning too early can be counterproductive for young children. The goal of this pre-school is not to prepare your child for their French academic future, it is to nurture your child's intellectual curiosity, emotional well-being, and social skills by combining play, exploration, movement, and social interaction alongside their academic learning in English and French.
One of the students is my son, who is accustomed to reading, singing and listening in French. My kids are my "why" and while not fully bilingual, they will be an asset in normalizing learning and speaking French socially.
Our daily schedule will look something like this:
Free Play (includes outside & sensory play/invitation to play)
Circle Time (calendar, song/poem)
Read Aloud
Discussion
Learning Activity Rotations (Math, Literacy, Art, Sensory)
Game Rotations or Dramatic Play
Free Play
Snack & Manners Discussion (mid AM or right before PM pickup)

Does my child need to be potty trained to attend?
Yes. However, I'm very understanding of special circumstances so please reach out with any concerns!
What is the child to teacher ration?
6 to 1. (1 of the 6 children is my son)
Do you go outside?
Yes! Outdoor play is a vital part of our day. We play in our large, secure backyard daily, weather permitting.
What can I expect my child to learn?
I believe learning should be joyful, active, and meaningful. Your child won’t just memorize facts—they’ll build a foundation of curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning that lasts. More specifically, these are my areas of focus:
Academic Foundations:
Early literacy through alphabet play, bilingual stories, and phonemic awareness
Math readiness with counting, sorting, patterning, and real-life problem-solving
Science and nature themes that spark curiosity and observation
Language & Communication
Songs, stories, and meaningful conversations to expand vocabulary and social confidence
Basic French comprehension vocabulary such as greetings, counting, colors, weather, clothes, and some commonly used verbs and objects
Critical Thinking & Independence
Choice-based, child-led rotations inspired by Montessori principles
Open-ended materials that foster focus, creativity, and decision-making
Fine Motor & Practical Life Skills
Daily activities like scooping, pouring, building, and art to develop coordination and independence
Emotional & Social Growth
Collaborative play and scripts to express feelings in safe, healthy ways. Inspired by "Mindset", "Good Inside", and "How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen", I strive to teach kids to manage big feelings, solve problems with care, and believe in their ability to grow—emotionally and socially—every day.
Every unit we discuss and practice a dedicated social skill pulled from from "52 Modern Manners for Kids"
Are there things I can do at home to support my child's learning in French?
Yes! Each month when I send our schedule home with your child, I will also update the digital version with relevant links and tips.
What is your sick policy?
Children must be fever-free and symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school. We follow strict hygiene and sanitation protocols to keep everyone healthy.
Do you provide snacks?
No, however we do usually incorporate food or a themed snack once a unit. Any themed snack is communicated ahead of time with parents.
