The Leon County Sheriff’s Office’s Citizens Academy offers residents the opportunity to learn and get hands on experience in how we continuously work to make Leon County a safer place to live work and play. The academy is a 10 week program, meeting once a week and culminating with a graduation ceremony. Citizens get the opportunity to ride along with a deputy on patrol, tour our Detention Facility, react to simulated “shoot or no shoot” scenarios, shoot our high powered weapons, and much more.
The Leon County Sheriff's Office has a new, state of the art hub for activation, in the event of a hurricane, other natural disaster or critical situation. The Operations Response Center is located inside LCSO's administration building on Municipal Way. It is equipped with hurricane shutters and structured to sustain hurricane force winds. LCSO has a detailed plan, inclusive of 24 hour staffing to respond to the needs of the community is a crisis situation.
The Leon County Detention Facility sponsors quarterly Reentry seminars, to help prepare inmates for their return to society. The participants have the opportunity to gain resources and assistance from local organizations and express their concerns about reentering the community.
The purpose for the information resource fair is to help the participants succeed; as we believe that when they succeed, we succeed.
Resources include presentations on job opportunities, smoking cessation programs, financial wellness and more.
For the First time in Leon County History, the Leon County Sheriffs has had an outstanding revamp under the direction of the new Sheriff Jeff. The new , "The revamps aren't for looks, but are for the quality and enhancement of service from the LCSO" We all wish the LCSO luck and appreciate for their services in the upcoming years.
