Dr. Leo Yazhou Jiang is currently an Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Electric Power System Research at Clarkson University and a Principal Engineer at the utility Avangrid and RLC Eng consulting firm as a secondary appointment. His research is to develop systems and methodologies for improved resilience and sustainability of electric power systems. Before joining Clarkson University, Dr. Jiang was a Power System Engineer at GE Global Research, Niskayuna NY from 2017 to 2020 and R&D Fellow Intern at the same institute in 2016. He was the 2024 NSF CAREER Awardee and 2018 GE Dushman Technology Excellence Awardee for his contribution to differentiating GE products. Dr. Jiang earned his Ph.D. degree from Washington State University in 2016.
Research Interest: Dr. Jiang’s research interests are electric power and energy systems with a focus on
grid flexibility to accelerate grid decarbonization
renewable uncertainties and grid operational risk analysis
fast power recovery to improve grid resilience and reliability
situational awareness and control of power distribution systems with distributed energy resources
