At the start of my student life, I decided to return to competitive tennis. My brother and I joined the tennis association D.S.T.V. Obvius, where we began training and competing frequently. I represented the club in the official KNLTB spring and fall competitions.
During the summer season, I participate in various regional tournaments to improve my national ranking and gain match experience. For me, tennis is the perfect way to blow off some steam after a day of work!
Most of my youth I played in a field hockey team based in my home-town. During that time I always played in the first team within the age group, competing at Topklasse, narrowly missing the national league.
My most memorable match was played in AH&BC's Wagener Stadium, beating the Amsterdam squad and receiving special mention in the local newspaper.
Having practiced both disciplines for over 15 years, I have developed a high level of proficiency in both skiing and snowboarding. While I began as a skier, I dedicated several years to mastering snowboarding before eventually returning to skiing as my primary focus, depending on the terrain and snow conditions..
For me, nothing beats being outside, on the mountain for a week. Whether the conditions are snowy, sunny or misty, I always find myself enjoying this time.
For me, golf is a sport that perfectly combines physical activity, social engagement, and mental focus. Whether I am practicing at the driving range or playing a full 18-hole course, I do find myself enjoying the quietness and relaxation this sport provides me.
While my current handicap is 46, I am actively working on refining my swing and short-game strategy. With more practice, I will find improvements soon enough!
During the second year of my studies, I joined the student rowing association D.S.R. Proteus-Eretes. Over the course of two years, I was an active competitive rower, representing the club in nation-wide competitions.
The pinnacle of my rowing career was securing a victory on the 'Bosbaan' in Amsterdam. Due to my interest in several other sports, I shifted my focus from rowing to tennis. However, when I get the opportunity I always return to the boat on water.
Living in the Netherlands provides the perfect backdrop for kitesurfing — a sport that is essentially a real-world application of aerodynamics. I enjoy the technical challenge of harnessing wind power and the freedom it provides.
