Course Description:

Using web design as the platform for product design and presentation, students will create and learn digital media applications using elements of text, graphics, animation, sound, video and digital imaging for various format. The digital media and interactive media projects developed and published showcase the student skills and ability. Emphasis will be placed on effective use of tools for interactive multimedia production including storyboarding, visual development, project management, digital citizenship, and web processes. Students will create and design web sites that incorporate digital media elements to enhance content of web site.

Various forms of technologies will be used to expose students to resources, software, and applications of media. Professional communication skills and practices, problem-solving, ethical and legal issues, and the impact of effective presentation skills are enhanced in this course to prepare students to be college and career ready. Employability skills are integrated into activities, tasks, and projects throughout the course standards to demonstrate the skills required by business and industry. Competencies in the co-curricular student organization, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), are integral components of the employability skills standard for this course.

Digital Design is the second course in the Web and Digital Design pathway in the Information Technology cluster. Students enrolled in this course should have successfully completed Introduction to Digital Technology and Fundamentals.


FBLA/CTSO 

Students  will join Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). FBLA is co-curricular with all Business and Computer Science classes This means we will be completing FBLA activities and assignments in the classroom. All students in the class will complete FBLA class activities for part of their grade. To become an active member of FBLA, students will fill out a membership application, pay dues $20 annual dues, and attend monthly meetings. Active FBLA members are then eligible to compete in region and state competitions and field trips. Fundraising opportunities will be offered for students to earn money to pay for their field trips and conference fees.

Late-work and Make-up Work Policies

Late Work Policy: Students with late assignments or unexcused absences are expected to submit missing assignments before the end of the grading period. Please see the guidelines below:

a.             Assignment turned in after the due date can earn a maximum of 80%.

b.             All assignments are due 6 days before final exams in order to qualify for final exam exemption.

c.             All missing assignments will be recorded in Infinite Campus with an “M” for missing. Every assignment in the grade book must be assessed with a grade or a code

 The expectations, rules, procedures and consequences for my classroom are intended to keep the classroom environment safe, orderly, and productive.  Please respect the rules so that we can maximize learning time together.  The rules are not hard to follow, nor are any of them “out of the   ordinary.”  They are simply expected behavior expectations   for North Atlanta High School students in this classroom. Thank you and let’s have some fun teaching, learning and growing!

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ENTER THE CLASSROOM

1.   Before Entering classroom put away all  Electronic Devices.  Electronic Devices: are not to be used nor be visible while inside the classroom. North Atlanta High School and APS policy

2.   Enter the classroom quietly and go to your assigned seat. 

DAILY CLASS ROUTINE: 

Students are required to go the Ms. Moore Website for the daily assignments.  Students are to complete the warmup/ sponge activity first, then during the work period complete the classwork.


Classwork/Homework policy:  Classwork not completed during the class period is Homework unless instructed otherwise. Students are expected to complete incomplete classwork for homework and turn in the assignment immediately to avoid late penalties.


SAVE ALL WORK TO GOOGLE DRIVE CLASS FOLDER: If required Check the Google Classroom and Download and save all handout/documents to your Class Google Drive Classwork Folder.  Do not leave documents on the school computer unless you have a copy in your Class Google Drive Classwork Folder.  Save everything to your Google Drive Classwork Folder finished or not.

 

Turn in all completed classwork immediately to avoid late penalties. Students will be require to submit assignments in various platforms forms and in different formats per the assignment requirements.

 

 CLASS RULES

NO Electronic Devices in the CLASSROOM:

·   Electronic Devices: are not to be used nor be visible while inside a classroom during the school day without explicit consent of the classroom teacher. Students do not assume that it is okay to use your devices without the teachers consent. 

·   If parents need to contact their students during the school day, they need to  contact the Main Office or Grade Level Office.

·   Talking/Texting/Video Chatting at any time during the school day is prohibited.  North Atlanta High School wide policy.

·   Students are not allowed to take pictures or videos under any circumstance on their personal electronic device that is not related to the educational curriculum. North Atlanta High School and APS policy

CONSEQUENCES for USING Electronic Devices during class:

·   Electronic Devices will be CONFISCATED if used during class time without the permission of the teacher, including instances where the device is being used to communicate with parents.

·   After the first warning parents will be contacted and the student will serve teacher detention. Second warning: the Electronic Device will be CONFISCATED for parent pick up.  The teacher will write an Administrative Referral to the grade level Administrator.

·   Refusal to turn over Electronic Device will be treated as insubordinate behavior and an Administrative Referral to the grade level Administrator will be submitted.

 NO Food or drinks in the CLASSROOM:

·        No food or drink, Arrive to class on time & ready to learn

·        When the bell rings, you need to be sitting in your assigned seat. 

·        You should immediately begin on the warm up activity or required assignment.

·         

Never line up at the door before dismissal

·        Please remain in your seat until I have dismissed you.  Never line up at the door before dismissal.  Always stay in your assigned seat.

 

Academic Integrity

ALL SUSPECTED VIOLATIONS WILL BE REFERRED TO THE ADMINISTRATOR and DOCUMENTED

·        Academic integrity violations are very serious, and all parties involved in an academic integrity violation are considered equally guilty.

·        Definitions include but are not limited to: Plagiarizing

·        Providing a copy of one’s work to another student who then copies the work as his/her own.

·        Using or attempting to use unauthorized aids (electronic devices, books, notes, tests, etc.) on tests, quizzes, homework, papers, projects, etc.

·        Being in possession of a cell phone or other electronic device (I-Watch, camera, video recorder) while taking a exam

 

 Class Conduct: Use polite and appropriate language

·        Offensive, derogatory, and profane terms will not tolerated. Ms. Moore strives to foster a  safe  classroom environment where all students feel comfortable to thrive and be their best selves

3. Meet with the teacher during tutorial to verify that the assignment are completed during.   Tutorial: Thursday 3:50-: 4:30pm. Note: The teacher may email the late assignment sheet to the student parent/guardian.

INTERNET POLICY


Use of the Internet provides great educational benefits to students. Unfortunately, however, some material accessible via the Internet may contain items that are illegal, defamatory, or potentially offensive to some people. Access to the Internet is given as a privilege to students who agree to act in a considerate and responsible manner. We require that students and parents or guardians read, and sign the online behavior agreement.

Network administrators may review files and communications to maintain system integrity and ensure that users are using the system responsibly. Network files are not private. Student use of NAHS technology will be for educational purposes only. The following are not permitted at NAHS:

a.       Sending or displaying offensive messages or pictures.

b.      Accessing of inappropriate material and none instructional websites.   Parent contact will be made on the 1st offense

c.       Playing Game on the computer is prohibited.  Parent contact will be made on the 1st offense

d.      Viewing music videos or any videos not related to class assignments.is prohibited. Parent contact will be made on the 1st offense

e.       Downloading of files to any drive without teacher permission.

f.        Violating copyright laws, plagiarism, cheating  is prohibited. Parent contact will be made on the 1st offense

g.      Accessing another students folders, files or classwork on the network

h.      Damaging computers or any part of the computer system  (including changing the default settings), or computer networks. Violations may result in a loss of computer access as well as other disciplinary or legal action.
