Lemongrass Library
A Website for All Things Books!
A Website for All Things Books!
Have you ever found a book that you want to buy, and when you look it up online to check for questionable content, all you find is no information or information that is strictly rooted in someone else's opinion? With all the different sites out there from both Christian and secular perspectives, it's pretty hard to find one that simply states the content of a book.
That's why I decided to create Lemongrass Library! Each book my contributors and I read we'll post on here, with concise observations about their content. Yes, just observations! There's one quick section that is our review, but other than that, we'll be simply telling you what's in the book. Obviously, everything we read is through a Biblical lens, so you won't see us dissing the Christian content of books, or being overly judgmental. All my contributors and I want to do is provide a resource for readers to give books a background check.
I gave you the basic overview of what my contributors and I will be doing with Lemongrass Library, but now I'm going to explain how the book observations work. They will be broken down into 8 categories (in the order listed below):
Author-Who wrote the book.
Series: If it's a series or a standalone.
Book Premise-A quick explanation of what the book is about.
Reading Level/Genre-The genre (i.e. romance, fantasy, historical) and the ages the book is suited for based on content.
Profanity-Swearing, and any other questionable words worth mentioning.
Violence-War, death, etc.
Spice Level-Romance, and how far it goes.
Faith Elements-Not limited to just Christian books, but also ones that reference mythology or other religions.
Additional Content-Covers anything else worth noting that doesn't fall under the categories above.
My Take-What the Lemongrass Library contributor thinks of the book.
Every category between "Reading Level/Genre" and "Additional Content" will be graded from levels 1-5. This is mostly to give you a feel for how much of the categories show up in a book. For example, a clean Christian romance (i.e. Everything's Coming Up Rosie by Courtney Walsh) might have the spice level of 3, because the book is centered around said romance and the amount of kissing scenes in the book. Same with a book like The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It might have a violence level of 4 or 5 because of all the fighting scenes.
Lemongrass Library doesn't just have book observations, there's a few more things. So go explore the website and discover them!
That's all for now! Have fun!
