Weekly Saturday Protests at Leisure World on Georgia Avenue
We will be coordinating Saturday Protests on Georgia Avenue for the foreseeable future in support of civil rights, due process and the rule of law. Starting on February 7th at 2:30-3:30 pm, we will congregate along Georgia Avenue in front of the LW Shopping Center. Bring your signs, noise makers, costumes, chairs, warm drinks, and a fun attitude. The One Million Rising Alliance of LW, Unitarian Universalists of Leisure World, Democratic Club, Progressive Club, and the Edmonson Society are joining together to sponsor this event. You do not have to be a member of any of these groups to come join us. All are welcome!
CASA Briefing 12 pm Saturday, March 7, Crystal Ballroom, Clubhouse 1
CASA is a Latino and immigrant advocacy organization that provides services including assistance with legal rights, education, and social programs. CASA’s work is more vital than ever with the ongoing indiscriminate mass deportation program of the Trump administration. We will learn about the work CASA is doing to help the immigrant community during this difficult time and how we can help. Our speaker is CASA Public Policy Director Cathryn Jackson.
Cathryn Jackson is the daughter of immigrants from Guyana and Trinidad. She has extensive expertise in local, state, and federal immigration policy and has been instrumental in driving forward countless campaigns to improve the lives of immigrant communities.
