Working together as a team can be challenging. Everyone has their own schedule and trying to get everyone together is hard. A majority of our group works during the day so we decided to have a group chat via discord. We asked one another what our strengths and weaknesses are. Nathan is currently enrolled in CISS 155 (web design) so he decided to take the role of web designer. He also started leading the group so it was decided he would also be the project manager to keep everyone on time. Daquan is good at drawing and creating illustrations so he took the position of illustrator. Dean came up with a few ideas for the build so he chose the designer and writer roles. Finally zack took the role of usability engineer and editor. We all confirmed our roles and asked if anyone wanted to switch, no one objected so we started to get to work. Everyone in their roles did an amazing job and we combined our talents to create the final project.
At first it was hard to come up with an idea, we started to over think. One person suggested we do a car design, but we thought that might be hard to get just right. Dean behind the scenes started to craft different ideas. He showcased his prototype Park bench and everyone liked it. We all decided to go with his idea and start the project.
The initial design was simple, had three modules, and was effective. The gazebo in the early prototypes could come apart easily due to the top and bottom having little support, potentially causing problems in the feature. The design got better and better, ending in a detailed set including a park bench, gazebo, and keystone. There are a lot of small details that were put into this design. It may cause a higher level of difficulty, but our team did a great job in design, illustrations and written instructions, it creates an better building experience.
No one is perfect and mistakes happen. Building a published and licensed Lego set can be difficult at time with no written instructions. Sometimes having a visual helped the builder understand. Combining the two gives the builder the option to pick and choose, or use both. There were some illustrations and written instruction parts that were redone to improve the building experience.
