Transforming governance, empowering the Bangsamoro
The Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is composed of 63 barangays. These are the barangays that voted for inclusion in the autonomous region coming from the municipalities of Pikit, Carmen, Kabacan, Midsayap, Aleosan, and Pigkawayan - all in North Cotabato Province.
Most of the barangays are geographically contagious. They face almost similar general developmental concerns in areas of economic development, social services delivery, environment concerns, and infrastructure development. The barangays are technically separated from their municipalities and province. Hence, they are not necessarily included in the programming and budgeting, service delivery, and administrative services previously provided by their mother local government units. A legal framework for the 63 barangays under the SGA is being addressed by the Bangsamoro Government.
Being a part of the BARMM presents bigger opportunities for the 63 barangays. These includes opportunities for better and bigger access to the regional budget in the areas of infrastructure development, agriculture, health services, and environmental management. These investments could spur faster development of the 63 barangays.
We envision a peace loving, resilient, and progressive Special Geographic Area enjoying the benefits of its inclusion to the BARMM thru improved basic services, stable job opportunities, preserved culture and traditions, stable peace situation, better infrastructure, and maintained environment under a transparent and accountable leadership and contributing to the BARMM progress, empowerment, and transformation of the BARMM.
Promote peace, harmony, and solidarity to improve the socio-economic condition of the people and to deliver basic services effectively and efficiently and towards moral governance.
