by Chungmin Lee, Koiti Hashida, all organizers and participants
This closing session reflects on the historical development and future directions of cognitive science research in the Asia-Pacific region. Professor Chungmin Lee will provide an overview of the regional collaborations that have shaped the field over the past three decades, including the early Japan–Korea initiatives in the late 1990s, the participation of China, and the establishment of the International Association for Cognitive Science (IACS) in 2006. Professor Koiti Hashida will offer commentary and perspective on the significance of these developments. The organizers will then discuss emerging opportunities, shared challenges, and directions for fostering deeper collaboration across the region. The session concludes with an open discussion involving all participants, aiming to articulate a shared vision for the future of cognitive science in the Asia-Pacific community.
