This discussion session aims to serve as a gateway toward establishing a collaborative network for Cognitive Science in the Asia-Pacific region—the first meetup of its kind. The session will begin with a concise summary of key discussions and insights from the previous day, providing a shared foundation for dialogue.
Following this introduction, a panel of researchers who are actively collecting and analyzing culturally grounded cognitive data across diverse regions—including East Asia, Oceania, and beyond—will discuss the opportunities and challenges of international collaboration. Guided by the moderator, the panelists will reflect on issues such as data sharing, regional diversity, and funding structures, and will explore practical directions for building cross-cultural research networks. The discussion will also touch on emerging methods, including large-scale and AI-assisted data collection, and how they may help bridge cultural and linguistic boundaries. Active engagement from the audience will be encouraged to expand and deepen the conversation.
Ultimately, this session seeks to shape concrete outcomes for collaborative projects and data-sharing initiatives that embody the intellectual and cultural diversity of the Asia-Pacific region, which potentially leads to the creation of a white paper and roadmap for ongoing cooperation.
